Affordable Weddings and Free Wedding Cake

Every couple wants to save on their Wedding day, and why not! Who says you can’t have an affordable and amazing wedding at the same time! Those in the wedding planning business will tell you that if you want to save on your wedding plans,  perhaps plan the date in the off-season. This is because setting your wedding date can be one of your biggest savings! Getting married in January, February or March (except Valentine’s Day), can save you 20% or 30%, and even more if you’re willing to have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday.

Skip the traditional dinner and have a brunch or a late evening reception and use the money you save to book your dream venue. If you choose a wedding venue that’s both beautiful and spacious, you can have your ceremony and reception at the same location. This can save you hundreds of dollars on paper goods, transportation and decor rentals!

Give yourself time! It’s a special day, so we suggest a year or longer to plan the details. Long range wedding planning can give you time to save or make payments on big-ticket items like the venue and catering. A longer timeline can also equal savings because you can purchase the expensive items such as bridesmaid dresses after Christmas, or a sweet flower girl dress after Easter. The money you save on favours, accessories and other small items throughout the year can easily add up. Hire a planner! Contrary to popular belief, wedding planners are not expensive. A planner is trained, has the experience it takes to deal with budgets, relationships with vendors, and the know how to streamline what is most important to the bride and groom.

Here are a few more wedding planning tips that can help you get the most value for your money. * Buy shoes that you will wear again or, or wear a pair that you already own that are comfortable. * Remember the tradition, 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'? Borrow that beautiful vintage necklace from grandma, or mom's blue earrings! *Shop for flowers that are in season, pick flowers with large blooms so that you need fewer stems and add embellishments like berries, pine cones or brooches. * Serve a limited bar of wine and beer or serve a signature cocktail. * Have your ceremony and reception time close together, eliminating the 'cocktail hour'. *Use a wedding website for all the friends you know who would be okay with receiving your information on-line and mail traditional invitations to family and older relatives.
